Rediscovering Carleton Watkins

Carleton Watkins lost most of his life’s work, including early photos of Yosemite Valley, in the 1906 earthquake and fire. Last year a flat file full of Watkins photos turned up in a New England library and the photos are currently on display at Fraenkel Gallery in San Francisco.
